Ivory Handle A folding-knife handle. It is a broad flat body with the grip end terminating as a rod with a ridge and knob terminal at one side, and an openwork scroll, with spur at the outer edge, at the other side. The outer surface of the blade end is at slightly lower level (to accomodate ferrule?). A slot extends diagonally across the handle interior from the knob terminal to blade edge, stepped out slightly at recessed zone to clear a rivet hole retaining its corroded iron rivet with square-sectioned shaft and remains of head. This terminal zone has three rivet holes behind edge, one in situ, of iron, square section shank. Mineralised scored lines concentric about the second rivet hole in from the slotted side may reflect the blade bearing on this rivet; a much slighter concentric line closely encircles the rivet hole next to the slotted edge. At the grip end, the scroll bears traces of drilled holes along the gap, later cut through to produce the scroll.
