Beneath this a build-up deposit of 0.20m depth and containing Roman pottery dating to the 2nd century, was observed to cover the area excavated. Beneath this was an interface of 0.10m depth of sandy clay above the natural sub-soil. An articulated skeleton was found within this interface. This inhumation was found adjacent to the course of a Roman road.
