DIG: An Archaeological Adventure

Item

Title
DIG: An Archaeological Adventure
Description
DIG opened in 2006 following a Millennium Commission-funded refurbishment of St Saviour’s Church, formerly the home of the Archaeological Resource Centre. Much like its predecessor, DIG was intended to allow visitors to get a hands-on experience of archaeology via object handling sessions and a series of replica excavations based on previous sites dug by the Trust. It hosts permanent and temporary exhibitions of artefacts, and is a popular venue for school workshops. DIG was particularly linked to the nearby Hungate excavations between 2006 and 2013, running tours of the site from the museum and displaying finds in the “Looking Back at Hungate” exhibition.
