Item

Title
P5288 West Blansby Farm
Description
During autumn 2009 York Archaeological Trust carried a watching brief on the preparatory works for an agricultural building at West Blansby Farm, Blansby Park. Blansby Park is an archaeologically rich area containing extensive surviving remains of the Prehistoric, Roman and medieval period and the development site was adjacent to a farmstead with origins as a medieval hunting lodge. Although the works revealed no archaeological features or artefacts the works presented an opportunity to investigate the area and provide further information about the development of the farmstead and the distribution of archaeological remains within the wider area.
