P5336 St Mary's Church Hall, Bishophill Junior, York
Item
- Title
- P5336 St Mary's Church Hall, Bishophill Junior, York
- Description
- A watching brief was undertaken on the excavation of 14 foundation pits within the old church hall of St Mary's Church during conversion into a domestic dwelling. Below a levelling deposit of brick rubble and plaster a disturbed and below a much cleaner deposit of brown silt produced moderate quantities of disarticulated human bone. It is believed that this bone is derived from disturbed burials in the graveyard of St Mary Bishophill Junior which probably originally extended across the area now occupied by the old church hall.
