P5345 Canal Street, Aylestone, Leicester
Item
- Title
- P5345 Canal Street, Aylestone, Leicester
- Description
- The desk based study was an assessment of the archaeological and historical impact of a proposed housing development on a former industrial site at Canal Street, Aylestone, Leicestershire (NGR SK 57570 01380, Figure 1). The evidence indicates that the potential survival of archaeological remains is low; prior to the late 19th century the land seems to have been open ground, while from the late 19th century onwards the site was developed as a factory, initially a dye works and later a hosiery knitting machine works.
