- Description
-
Partially complete, reconstructed tall, two handled Cistercian Ware mug with mid brown glaze and applied pale yellow light clay decoration.
The mug has an oxidised fabric which has been high fired with minimum inclusions. It is decorated with 3 crude palm motifs on each side. This is a Brears Type 3 mug. There are straight lines across the underside of the base, suggesting that it has been taken off the wheel or drying surface when it was motionless. The mug has one handle and the remains of a second handle. - Excavation
