Description
"Evaluation work recorded two large south-west/north-east aligned ditches which together with an isolated post-hole all produced large quantities of Roman finds. The ditches were parallel with the main Roman road from York to Tadcaster. Horticultural or agricultural soils demonstrated the main use of the site in the medieval and post-medieval periods. The foundations of walls of a post medieval almshouse were located within the site.

Trial holes indicated that a depth of c. 1.30m of horticulture or agricultural soil dating from the medieval- post medieval period sealed archaeological deposits below. These included a cobble spread."
