Description: A watching brief was carried out on an area which was stripped by machine. Natural deposits were observed between c.0.50 - 0.70m below ground surface. Roman pottery was recovered from the fills of four parallel ditches, and these were interpreted as re-cut boundary ditches. An area of road metalling and two small features which may have been pits were also of Roman date. Overlying the Roman features there was a build-up of soil which was described as medieval and post medieval plough soil.
