Ryedale Ware Cistern Reconstructed rim and body fragment of Ryedale Ware cistern with green glaze. The fragment has the remains of one handle. This has one large thumb impression at the end which remains intact, which helped to secure the handle to the body of the cistern. -
Ryedale Ware Cistern Reconstructed body fragment of Ryedale Ware cistern with green-brown glaze. The bung hole of the cistern can be seen in this fragment. It would have been close to the base in the complete vessel. -
Humber Ware Cistern Partially complete, reconstructed Humber Ware cistern with green-yellow glaze. The glaze on this cistern is only on the top third of the vessel but has been splashed or dripped further down the body in some areas. The neck has been decorated with bands of rouletting and the handle has been secured to the rim and body with large thumb impressions. The lower part of the body appears to be blackened with soot. -
Hambleton Ware Cistern Partially complete, reconstructed Hambleton Ware cistern with mottled green glaze. The cistern has been decorated with pinching around the rim and a wavy line just below, four bands of parallel lines of rouletting with wavy lines impressions between them, and small pads of clay creating curved lines. It also has the remains of a handle.
