Reconstructed Siegburg Jug.

Glass Jug

Conical jug lacking rim, neck and handle, now in many fragments and reconstructed. Dull, many small bubbles and black specks. Very short cylindrical neck, edges broken off roughly to form approximately horizontal edge, tooling at base of neck, large plain straight sided body expanding out, rounded carination, lower body convex curved, open pushed-in base ring, domed base. Lower part of handle with central rib, claw attachment, and vertical trail with 11 pinched projections. Top edge of handle grozed to finish at same height as neck. Blue/green. Same jug as sf1990.

Glass Jug

Jug; three blue-green rim, neck, body and handle fragments. Bubbly, black specks, especially in handle, and some silver iridescence. Small horizontal rim, with edge bent out, up, in and flattened, long narrow neck, constriction above wide conical upper body. Angular ribbon handle with central rib applied to upper body, folded attachment on neck below rim, claw attachment and vertical pinched trail on body.

Scarborough Ware Pellet Jug

Partially complete, reconstructed Scarborough Ware pellet jug with orange-brown glaze. The jug has been decorated with applied clay lines and small pads. There are two thumb impressions on either side of the top and bottom of the handle which help to secure it to the neck and body of the vessel. There are also small thumb impressions around the base.

Walmgate Ware Jug

Walmgate Ware drinking jug with green-brown glaze. There are no signs of decoration on the jug, other than some patch of glaze on the body. There are two thumb impressions on both sides of the top of the handle which help to secure it to the body of the jug.

Walmgate Ware Jug

Partially complete, reconstructed Walmgate Ware drinking jug with brown glaze. The glaze is only on the top half of the jug, stopping just above the base of the handle. On the upper part of the body are some decorative lines of rouletting. There are two large thumb impressions on both sides of the top of the handle which help to secure it to the body of the jug.

Walmgate Ware Jug

Partially complete, reconstructed Walmgate Ware jug with a small amount of brown glaze. There are no signs of decoration on the jug, other than the small patch of brown glaze below the handle. There are two thumb impressions at both ends of the handle which help to secure it to the body of the jug.

Humber Ware Baluster Jug

Partially complete, reconstructed Humber Ware baluster jug with green-brown glaze. The glaze on this jug is only on the top third of the vessel but has been splashed or dripped further down the body in some areas. There are two thumb impressions on either side of both ends of the handle which help to secure it to the body of the jug.

Humber Ware Jug

Partially complete Humber Ware jug with green-brown glaze. The neck and body of the jug have been decorated with rouletting, and there are also other incised markings on the body. There are two thumb impressions on either side of top and bottom of the handle which help to secure it to the body of the vessel.

Brandsby Ware Jug

Partially complete Brandsby Ware shouldered jug with a mottled green glaze covering the neck and shoulders. The jug has a slightly gritty fabric and the base has continuous thumbing around it. The rim and upper part of the handle are missing.

Brandsby Ware Jug

Partially complete, reconstructed Brandsby Ware tall baluster jug with an unglazed rim and a dull, dark green glaze on the neck and shoulders. The slender shouldered jug has a rod handle with two thumb impressions at the lower handle and body join. There are three groups of thumb impressions around the base.
