P5620 All Saints Church, Aughton Excavations for service trenches at All Saints’ Church, Aughton revealed the wall-lines of the former chancel and a possible earlier north aisle. No in-situ or disarticulated human bone was observed.

P5580 Lotherton Hall An earthwork survey of upstanding medieval ridge and furrow was undertaken at Lotherton Hall in advance of a road improvement scheme. Geotechnical test pits assessed the route and a strip, map and record exercise was maintained during works. Further evidence for medieval ridge and furrow was recorded along with several linear features of unknown date and modern drainage features. A structural wall of probable post-medieval date was encountered near the stables and associated with them.

P5508 71-73 Goodramgate A two-trench evaluation at 71-73 Goodramgate revealed extensive midden deposits of 13th century date at 2m BGL/14.30m AOD. A 14th century building with evidence for 16th century demolition and alteration was found, along with evidence for the disposal of local metal working waste from the 15th century into the post medieval period. An 18th/19th century clearance truncated these remains, which were sealed beneath extensive 19th century ground make-up deposits. The lowest midden deposits were waterlogged and contained organic remains with an extremely good level of preservation. Subsequent boreholes revealed a further 3.25m of deposits overlying natural at 5m BGL/c.11.10m AOD.

P5461 Conisbrough Cemetery Extension, Sheffield Road, Conisbrough, South Yorkshire A 6 trench machine-excavated evaluation in the field immediately south-west of Conisbrough Cemetery identified natural glacial deposits and in one trench (#3) a double-ditch with a clay embankment, provisionally interpreted as the plough-truncated remains of the medieval deer park boundary. Also present down-slope of the boundary was a smaller ditch associated with two stone packed post-holes of unknown date. Up-slope from the boundary, a stone packed foundation of unknown date was also identified.

P5459 Electric Sub-station, York Minster Stoneyard, Deangate, York An excavation conducted at the York Minster Stoneyard encountered early 18th century construction activity and a mid 18th century building forming part of the prebendary of Strensall. The late 19th/early 20th century landscape clearance for the creation of Deangate and the current Stoneyard buildings was also identified.
